The architectural complex of Villa Valmarana takes its name from the famous Venetian family that organized parties and summer stays there throughout the eighteenth century. The Barchessa is what remains of the seventeenth-century Villa Valmarana, a complex building consisting of the main body flanked by two barchesse. Until the end of the 1600s, the barchessa was that part of the villa that served agriculture, such as a granary, and under its arches, boats were stored.<\/p>\n
Only one of the two barchesse is open to the public and inside it still preserves the original furnishings and is richly frescoed by Michelangelo Schiavoni (1712-1772) known as il Chiozzotto. The frescoes, which in 1908 had been covered in lime to adapt the barchesse for use as a storage-stable and cellar-inn, were recovered in 1962. In the ceiling of the central hall, within a Tiepolo sky, the Glory of the Valmarana family is depicted.<\/p>\n
The sumptuous environments of the Barchessa with its majestic fa\u00e7ade, a wide portico with double columns, and the lush gardens surrounding it, represent a perfect location for events. The portico, which features a harmonious alternation of stone seating and neoclassical statues, houses a historical ornamental cart, which lends itself to sure-to-impress scenery.<\/p>\n
