Parish church in Neo-Renaissance style, hosting splendid altarpieces steeped in history. <\/p>\n

 In neo-Renaissance style, the facade is divided by four Ionic pilasters topped by four Corinthian ones. A fresco by Giovanni Bevilacqua adds a touch of color to the facade, where, inside rather shallow niches, are placed the four statues representing Saint Charles Borromeo, Saint Augustine, Saint Joseph, and Saint Nicholas, the saint to whom the church is dedicated.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are several altars made of polychrome marbles and numerous painted altarpieces by illustrious artists. <\/p>\n

The cult of Saint Nicholas dates back to the eleventh century, when the body of the saint was transported from Myra, a city in Turkey, to Bari. The first building dedicated to the saint dates back to the twelfth century, and was located approximately between Via Molinella and C\u00e0 Albrizzi, but unfortunately there are only a few documents of this construction. <\/p>\n
