Chiesa dei Santi Vito e Modesto

The Church of San Vito and Modesto in Spinea has been guarding an unknown treasure for centuries, still unknown to many: it is the organ built by Gaetano Callido.

The organ, dating back to 1773, became active in 1815. The craftsman created more than 430 organs, including the one found in the Basilica of San Marco and the one preserved in the Church of the Frari in Venice. Callido's skill lay in his ability to blend metals to create an alloy particularly suited for transmitting the sound of the complex instrument. To reconstruct the history of the precious organ, some research was conducted in the parish archive, which holds all documents related to the purchase, repairs, and payments made for maintenance. The first organ we have records of came from Alexandria, Egypt (4th century BC) and was powered by water rather than air.

The Church also preserves the work of Vittore Belliniano, "Coronation of the Virgin" from 1524. The bell tower is one of the few remnants of the castle of Orgnano, built in the 12th century and demolished around the mid-1500s. It is a brick construction, square in shape, within which one can notice remnants of frescoes executed by the painter Alessandro Dal Prà from Spinea in 1813.

The bell chamber features four Romanesque-style biforas, topped by an octagonal spire. The current clock is owned by the Municipality. Over the years, the bell tower has undergone numerous restorations, including a radical one carried out in 1871. The entrance door, originally located on the west side, is framed by a marble architrave above which stands a wonderful angel of probable 15th-century workmanship. Also from the same period is the statuette of Saint Clare embedded above the entrance door of the church on the northern façade.
