Oratorio di Santa Maria Assunta

Ancient church, gem of Spinea.

The ancient church of S. Maria Assunta, located on Rossignago street, was built in the 10th-11th century as the mother church of the Spinea territory, equipped with a baptismal font and directly subject to the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Treviso.

The wear of time and the damage caused by various clashes between armies that passed through the Spinea territory almost entirely destroyed it.

Reconstructed almost from the foundations in 1382 at the behest of Bishop Pietro da Baone, it soon transformed into a countryside church and a center of Marian worship. Despite being damaged, the fresco of the Madonna della rosa, attributed to Federico Tedesco, is remarkable.

The original building of Santa Maria Assunta probably rises between the tenth and eleventh century, with a baptismal font. The wear and tear of time and the clashes between the various armies that contended for the land caused almost total destruction. In 1382 it was rebuilt, starting practically from the foundations and became a country church and center of Marian worship.
