Itinerario nell’entroterra veneziano
PROGRAM
You start from Vigonovo at the connection point with the river circuit of Padua, from here you travel through the territories of the ancient Sarmazza (at the time a stronghold of barbarian warriors) which, starting from the mid-19th century, was divided in two by the excavation of the current main branch of the Brenta, called Cunetta.
Along the route, you will encounter Villa Sagredo, which seems to have been built on the ruins of a Roman fortress, and, proceeding towards the main square of Vigonovo, the church of Santa Maria Assunta. Reaching the bank of the Brenta Cunetta opens up a charming view of the countryside and leads you to the territory of Cornio (Medoacus minor). From here, you descend into the high Saccisica heading towards its capital, Campolongo Maggiore. Continuing towards the Bojon bridge, you return to the territory of Cornio, reaching Sandon with the Church of San Giacomo, Villa Caffrè and the Saggiori farm, once a convent of the nuns of Torcello, then Fosso with the 18th-century church and the rectory from the same era, the triforium of Ca’ Pisani, the only existing relic of the ancient bishop's residence. Proceeding towards Galta, you return to Sarmazza and reach the navigable waterway of the Brenta again. After passing the weir and crossing the Brenta, you arrive back at the departure point
